In 2017, a study commissioned by NABU revealed that around 50,000 tons of pizza boxes are disposed of every year in Germany alone! This accounts for about 22% of the takeaway industry. If we stacked these pizza boxes, they would be twice the diameter of the earth!
When we also found out that used cardboard pizza boxes can not be recycled, designers Marlene and Luise realized that a more sustainable solution was urgently needed. After almost 2 years of collaboration with Filip and Pizzaiolos from all over the world, PIZZycle was finally born in 2022!
Using high quality food grade polypropylene, each PIZZycle replaces hundreds of cardboard pizza boxes and is 100% recyclable.
Since our launch, we've worked with great customers who allow us to make a huge impact on the environment. Our customers include pizza chains like Dominos Pizza, luxury hotels like the Ritz Carlton in Miami and the Hilton Hotel. We're also excited to now be working with wholesalers and retailers to bring the zero-waste pizza experience to the rest of the world!
